Miserly, intrusive, and psychotically egotistical, she revels in phlegm’s flavor, plague-cough “music,” and the taste of shriveled lungs. Her Ziz demons are opal smoke clouds that can inhabit corpses, and her bastion—the moon-sized Hundred Clouds gas pagoda over a toxic river—links by mist walls to Dijing, Enthymēsis, Beulah, Tohu, and the rest of Tikun.
